At DrivenWoman we know a thing or two about nourishing our mind and soul during the hot summer months by reading great books. We asked our Group Leaders around the world to share their personal favourites and asked what are they reading this summer.
Gaia Saxby, Group Leader in Luzern, Switzerland
“Dark Nights of the Soul” by Thomas Moore because it embraces the fact that sometimes we grow the most when we turn towards the hard moments and not away from them – and that these hard moments have special and distinct messages and learnings for us. It’s not easy reading, though, but very enriching if you are into a dense mix of psychology, philosophy and theology!
Jenny Oklikah, Group Leader in Soho, London, UK
“Daring Greatly“, Brené Brown. This was a life changer for me. “Daring greatly means the courage to be vulnerable. It means: show up and be seen. To ask for what you need. To talk about how you are feeling. To have the hard conversations.” says Brene Brown. Watch also this brilliant Super Soul Sunday video where she explains how she was raised to believe that vulnerability is weakness.
Dina Ioannou, Group Leader in Basel and Olten, Switzerland
“The 5 love Languages” by Gary Chapman. I just read this book, I heard about it years ago but never bothered with it until now. Simple yet life changing insights into how when we speak the right language of love of a significant other we can make changes in our personal relationships. A really good book!
Anna Rossi, Group Leader in Helsinki, Finland
“The Gifts of Imperfection” by Brené Brown. It had an inner hurricane effect on me and has changed the way I see myself and others.
Laureen Koch, Group Leader in Munich, Germany
Sophie Evans, Group Leader in Thalwil, Switzerland
“Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway” by Susan Jeffers. For me this encapsulates everything about being a driven woman and being able to step out of your comfort zone. Very powerful stuff yet easy to implement and to read.
Malin Spratt, Group Leader in Geneva, Switzerland
“Presence” I simply love Amy Cuddy. Her book is great and I especially admire her since she recently got slammed by some of her peers (male) for accuracy in her research. It’s definitely worth a read, and her TED talk on Power Poses is a must as well!
Fiona C Flintham, DrivenWoman Co-founder and Group Leader in Zurich
“The ONE Thing” by Gary Keller. The surprisingly simple truth behind extraordinary results – is one that helped me immensely a few years ago – on page 20 he says “No one succeeds alone. No one.” I totally believe in that.
Miisa Mink, DrivenWoman founder and Group Leader in Soho, London, UK
“Seven Spiritual Laws Of Success” by Deepak Chopra. I used to think that success is based on hard work and luck alone. But on the other hand I didn’t want to kill myself in the process. After reading this book my whole perspective on life and success changed radially, and soon DrivenWoman was born. The book is very small. Yes. But most powerful!
